KENK architects is a medium sized architectural firm headed by Pim Köther and Ad Koedijk.
Apart from the two architect/directors we have a flexible team of qualified architects, project managers and supporting personnel that advises our clients in a wide variety of assignments, throughout the Netherlands and beyond. Our team is active in all stages of the construction process; from feasibility studies through controlling the building process on site. The firm was founded in 1989 following a prize winning entry in the European housing competition EuroPan. In the years that followed the firm gained a distinguished reputation among Dutch housing investors, developers, housing corporations and municipalities. Together with our clients we have realised housing schemes varying from detached housing to large scale and high density apartment blocks combined with commercial functions. The knowledge we have gained with regards to the desires of the users of the built environment is now expressed in other areas of our work. This includes buildings for healthcare, education and employment, special forms of housing (housing for the elderly, care homes, student residences), town planning and renovation and reuse of existing buildings. With our proposals and projects we contribute to the current debate about building both in historical town centres and in modern suburbs, including the renewal of old industrial and harbour sites. We design with a conscious use of the environment. Without exception our projects meet a high standard where the discussion over quality and the relationship between town planning and architecture are central. Our commitment to the profession has over the years resulted in a large number of awards, nominations and publications. |
